Hemp- Cannabis sativa
Description of hemp:
Cannabis sativa L. It is grown in Asia for its fibre and oil-rich seeds. Hemp is a dioecious plant. A distinction is made between hemp with flowers and hemp with seeds; the former bears only stamens (male) and the latter only flowers (female). The staminate flowers form branching clusters in the axils of the leaves, while the fertile flowers are borne singly in the axils of tiny scales. Flowering hemp ripens earlier than seeded hemp, so if you want to grow seed, you should leave the seeded hemp until its seed ripens. The fruiting flower produces a small acorn which contains a single seed. The seed ripens in September. Hemp seed used to be official in medicine under the names semen cannabis and fructus cannabis, but is not currently listed in the pharmacopoeia, only Indian hemp(Cannabis indica), the branch tips of which are used in medicine after they contain a strong intoxicant. The Hungarian pharmacopoeia only mentions the latter, but the seeds of hemp are also used in medicine and pharmacists buy hemp seeds. Hemp seed is used as a home remedy and is used to make hemp seed milk and hemp seed pulp. Source: Béla Páter, The wild herbs
